Merrimack Street Entrance Closed
Effective as of July 6, 2026, the Merrimack Street entrance/exit of the Library has been closed due to the Merrimack Street sidewalk upgrade project. We do not have a timeline for its resolution. Patrons are asked to enter and exit the building via Colburn Street only. For more information about this project, please visit  City Hall Project 2026 | Lowell, MA.
HVAC System being updated
Please be advised that the Department of Public Works installed a new temporary chiller for the building on Friday, June 5th. There are still ongoing issues that need to be tweaked related to the blowers in areas of the building. We apologize in advance for any issues and we may need to close certain areas of the building due to excessive heat. Thank you for your understanding during this time.
