Lowell Reads Summer 2020 is here!

Summer Reading… Not Just for Kids!

Why should kids have all the fun this summer? The Pollard Memorial Library is happy to announce that we will be offering a special adult only summer reading challenge for patrons entitled “Lowell Reads – Summer Edition.”

We have two options for adult patrons to complete opportunities to participate will be offered through September 4. We are offering an online component via Beanstack or patrons can download a paper copy or request a paper gameboard when they access our curbside service. Online patrons will receive rewards for logging reading time as well as completing badge challenges. For those with the paper card, complete 1 block or all of them for your chance to participate in a raffle for prizes of gift cards and library swag.  For those with paper cards, return your game card on or before September 4th to be included in the raffle.

Challenges include rereading a book from your younger years, downloading the Libby app and listening to an audio book or reading an e-book, doing a random act of kindness, and much more! We’ll be hosting a variety of library programs or chances to interact with staff members online, so keep an eye on the events page for new opportunities each week or drop in to one of the librarian chats to ask any questions that you may have about reading.

If you choose to download the Beanstack app, once you are registered, make sure that you click on “Discover Challenges” to find the Adult Summer Reading program and see all of the activity badges that you can achieve. Please note that most virtual program options will be added to the Library’s events page through the end of the month, so check the Events page often to see what new activities are being added each week! The Scavenger Hunt mentioned will not be available until the mid-July.

Patrons are invited to share their experiences via social media and get involved in all of the great virtual opportunities that the library provides. You can also access the game card on this blog – download it here!  Submission options are flexible this year, so let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
