Effective January 1, 2025, the Pollard Memorial Library requests that all tours are booked by using this form. Tours are offered Monday – Friday starting between 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. Additional night or Saturday hours may be available if staffing is at appropriate levels.
All tours last approximately 1 hour. No more than 2 classes or 50 people can be permitted on a tour at a time. Groups may be broken into smaller groups to make the tour easier to move throughout the building. Tours must be booked no less than 2 weeks prior to the tour and are not confirmed until the organizer receives a confirmation with booking details from a staff member.
Our staff do make other outreach visits, conduct additional tours and offer public programs, so it is possible that the preferred date that you want to schedule may not be available. We strongly recommend providing more than one possible visit date.
Library card applications cannot be processed during the tour. They must be dropped off to the library in advance no less than 1 week (5 business days) before the tour. Additional information will be provided in your confirmation email as to how to proceed. We only process first time library card applications. If we find already existing accounts for individuals, they (or their parent/guardian if a minor) must come to the library to take care of any issues or obtain a new library card.
Library card applications for all ages can be found at https://lowelllibrary.org/services/library-cards-loan-rules/. The application is available in English and Spanish. Applications for children should be filled out by their parent or guardian. For the group, please make sure that all forms are complete with all information filled out and that they are legible. We cannot process incomplete library card applications. Families/school students do not need to provide identification. The school/sponsoring organization is verifying that the information on the applications are valid.
Reminder: If you want the cards ready for your library visit/tour, the applications must be submitted to the library no later than 1 week (5 business days) before your tour. We cannot process applications during the tours. The instructions for your group will be emailed to you where to deliver the applications or you can mail them to the library – Pollard Memorial Library – Attention: Tours, 401 Merrimack St., Lowell, MA 01852. If you mail applications, please include the organization name, visit date, contact person, and contact information. Mailed applications must be received more than 1 week prior to the tour.
