Remember Lowell Native Olympia Dukakis

Olympia Dukakis June 20, 1931-May 1, 2021

Oscar-winning actress and Lowell native Olympia Dukakis passed away on Saturday. She worked as a physical therapist before returning to school for a Master of Fine Arts degree. She worked in theater and founded The Whole Theatre Company in Montclair, New Jersey with her husband. Dukakis appeared in my movies and television series, winning Oscar and Golden Globe awards for her performance in Moonstruck. A documentary about her life is now available on numerous streaming platforms. If you are interested in learning more about Olympia Dukakis, you can read her memoir, Ask Me Again Tomorrow: A Life in Progress or take a look at her IMDB page.

We have a few of her movies available at the library, with more coming soon. You can request items for curbside pickup Monday-Thursday 10-8 and Friday and Saturday 10-4.
