October is National Cookbook Month!

I enjoy looking through cookbooks even if I don’t expect to cook from them. While we can pinpoint exactly what we want to cook online, I find more pleasure in flipping through a book on the topic of choice. We have books centered around ingredients, types of diets, cuisines, and appliances. We have books that are lists of ingredients and instructions and books that offer cultural or personal commentary. We have books by culinary legends, restauranteurs, nutritionists, bloggers, Food Network stars, and Top Chef finalists. We have books for cooking for the holidays or cooking for one.

To celebrate National Cookbook Month, we have a display on the second floor. There are so many cookbooks, it was difficult to choose! The majority of the cookbooks are in the first floor stacks with the number 641, and we have quite a few in the new books section. You can also take a look at the titles below, which are just a sample of the wide variety of cookbooks in the library.

The library is currently open for browsing. Masks are required in all city buildings. If you are not comfortable entering the library, you can request items for curbside pickup during our regular hours (Monday-Thursday 9-9; Friday and Saturday 9-5). To reserve a book, place a request in the online catalog, fill out a request form, or call the reference desk at 978-674-4121.
