Local Author Spotlight: Mark E SorensonÂ

Local Author SpotlightÂ
Mark E SorensonÂ
Please describe your writing routine. Is there a time of day or place that is most productive for you?
3 to 4 hours in the morning. I review, edit and polish what I wrote yesterday then write a new page or two. Some days taken up with research or chapter outlining.Â
Is there anything in Lowell or in the surrounding area that has inspired your work? Such a place to take nice walks or a piece of artwork?
Nothing specific to Lowell though I do love the city.
What do you believe are the most important elements of writing? How do you incorporate it into your own work?
Personally I seek to entertain and to educate to a lessor degree. While I write fiction, much of the “background” and sometimes “backstory” are based on verifiable facts.
What advice would you give to a young writer and/or a writer starting their first creative work? Don’t seek perfection, just write. Get a mentor. Find and talk to other writers.
What were your favorite books when you were a child?Â
The Hardy Boys.
Do you have any reading recommendations?Â
Anything by Ken Follett
