Celebrate Audubon - Year of Audubon Kick Off - Wednesday, November 5th at 6:30pm

celebrate audubonHave  you heard there’s about to be a bunch of rare bird sightings right here in Lowell? Well, not exactly live birds. We’ll be showcasing full color prints from the 18th century work “Birds of America” which were acquired by the library in 1880 and have been kept in storage for much of the time since. Now, thanks to the Library Trustee’s John A. Davis Trust Fund, the Library has generously invested in the archival framing of several Audubon “Birds of America” prints, purchased in 1880. These prints will be hung on the walls of the library in 2015 so the public can get their shot at seeing them in person before they fly back to storage. Keep a look out for more events in 2015 from Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust, the Pollard Memorial Library and the Foundation will be offering a year of programming related to birds, birding, and the rich natural resources of the City of Lowell.
