Around the World in 80 Books

As we settle into fall, we are highlighting eight more books from countries around the world.  The book from Sierra Leone was the winner of the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best Book, a finalist for the Orange Prize for Fiction, and an Essence Book Club Pick. The Hungarian novel was a New York Times notable book in 2011. The book from the Philippines won that country’s National Book Award, and the book from India was longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award. The Scottish and Colombian authors have multiple books in our collection. Our monthly selection features books from Cuba and South Africa as well.

The library is open for browsing. Masks are optional. If you are not comfortable entering the library, you can request items for curbside pickup during our regular hours (Monday-Thursday 9-9; Friday and Saturday 9-5). To reserve a book, place a request in the online catalog, fill out a request form, or call the reference desk at 978-674-4121. If you love these books, you can write a review or place them in the “Awesome Box” at the ground floor checkout desk.
