Please describe your writing routine. Is there a time of day or place that is most productive for you?
The best place for me to write is usually on my couch with my laptop warming up my thighs! Most of my inspiration for my writing has stemmed from television shows that I grew up with or continue to watch, so as long as I can find one of those on streaming, I”ll be writing something!Â
Is there anything in Lowell or in the surrounding area that has inspired your work? Such a place to take nice walks or a piece of artwork?
Not my most recent work, no. However, on the walk I take home from work every day, I always see a large flock of geese just hanging out with each other, and it gave me this wicked idea for animal-related adventures that I never really thought to explore before.Â
What do you believe are the most important elements of writing? How do you incorporate it into your own work?
I think exploring the personalities of all of your characters is really important. It’s so easy to take one of your secondary characters and brush them to the side for the sake of the climax, but really identifying all characters’ motives and inspirations can be just as important as your main characters!Â
What advice would you give to a young writer and/or a writer starting their first creative work?
Give yourself a break! You are going to finish your work when you finish your work. If you rush through for the sake of finishing, it can be easy to tell. Readers are really good at picking up on stuff like that. As long as you remain consistent and give yourself proper time to digest what you’re doing, you can do it!Â
What were your favorite books when you were a child?
When I was a kid, most of my reading was Pokémon books and Digimon manga! Obviously, being a fan of the games and shows, I wanted to be dragged into every realm of those universes. When I got into my teen years, I think the only book series I truly enjoyed and kept going back to was the “Maximum Ride” series by James Patterson.Â
Do you have any reading recommendations?
Definitely read the Maximum Ride series if you can! James Patterson is a magical writer in his own right.
