A Big Thank You for We Are Market Basket Event Last Night

Thank you to all those who came out to last night’s talk by Daniel Korschun and Grant Welker on their new book We Are Market Basket. We had audience of 44 which is amazing considering it’s still August and attendance numbers are usually dismal for summer events (except ballgames, festivals, and Lowell Walks). Korschun and Welker gave a great talk and really did a wonderful job contextualizing and detailing the company’s history, recent crisis, and its impact on the larger world of business. At the same time the book is a down to earth, objective blow by blow story of the events as they unfolded over the past two years told by the people who lived them. From the employees, vendors, customers and all who had a stake and a say in the movement to save Market Basket.

During the Q & A session the authors spoke about how they will be bringing this story and lessons learned from it forward to many different places in the coming months including Boston College and Oxford University. They also mentioned at the event last night  the book is going to be required reading for all incoming UMass Lowell business majors in the fall. It gives one hope for the future of business.

If you missed last night’s talk you can catch them tonight over at the Tewksbury Public Library.
