Stonewall LGBTQ Book Awards for 2016
The Stonewall Book Awards are given annually to English-language works of exceptional merit relating to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender experience and include the Stonewall Book Awards – Mike Morgan & Larry Romans Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award, the Stonewall Book Awards – Barbara Gittings Literature award and the Stonewall Book Awards – Israel Fishman Non-Fiction Award. The awards will be presented to the winning authors or editors at the American Library Association Annual Conference in Orlando in June.
“This year, the Children/YA and adult Stonewall Book Award committees considered and read over 450 works featuring gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender themes.
The Barbara Gittings Literature Award goes to: The God’s of Tango by Carolina De Robertis
The  Israel Fishman Non-Fiction Award goes: Speak Now: Marriage Equality on Trial by  by Kenji Yoshino
The Children’s Award goes to: Â George by Alex Gino
The Young Adult’s Award goes to: Porcupine of Truth by Bill Konigsberg
