National Grid's Light Up Your Library - Feat. Radio Disney Saturday, November 2nd 1pm-4pm
LIGHT UP YOUR LIBRARY EVENT:
The Pollard has been selected as one of six Massachusetts libraries to host a stop on National Grid’s Light Up the Library Campaign Tour. So come on down Saturday, November 2nd from 1pm-4pm for fun and games for the whole family and a special visit by Radio Disney and fun interactive exhibits about energy efficiency. The Friends of the Library will be selling CFL bulbs for $1 apiece. You can also drop off donations to the Friends’ Children’s Shopping Day event. Have fun, save money, and help your library!
ORDER MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT ITEMS:
You will also have the option to order additional energy efficient items (a-la girl scout cookie ordering) through the Friends during the month of November. Information about items and order forms will be available at the Nov. 2nd Light Up Your Library event, the 2nd floor Reference Desk during the month of November, and at the Friends’ Children’s Shopping Day event on November 30th. Items will be available for pick up in late December or early January.
ENERGY STAR LIGHTING MAKEOVER FACEBOOK CONTEST
How much does it take to change a library light bulb? Well, you may have noticed there are usually at least a few lights out in our beautiful 2nd floor reference room. This is because the ceilings are so high and in order to change a light bulb our good friends at the DPW need to bring in a special lift to access the drop lights. This is time consuming, disruptive, and costly so they only do this about once a year. But with your help we can change this situation by replacing the current bulbs with CFL bulbs that can last up to 20 years. Making DPW’s annual visit with the lift a thing of the past.
Starting November 1st, vote for the Pollard in the National Grid Library Lighting Makeover Contest on National Grid MA’s Facebook page. If we win we will get $15,000 dollars to make this much needed energy efficiency upgrade.
