Happy Birthday Elvis! We've got the cure for the Winter Blues with Two Films this Week.

The winter weather got you blue? Well we’ve got some movies to get you in a better spirit. First up is our Independent Film Night selection for January – Free Men – a Film by Ismael Ferroukhi. Thursday, January 10th @ 6:30pm

This thrilling film tells the tale of some unsung heroes of WWII. Set in German occupied Paris, the film follows an unemployed Algerian named Younes (played by break-out star Tahar Rahim—think early Robert DeNiro) who earns his living selling items on the black market. The French Police get wise and put the screws to Younes to have him spy on an area Mosque suspected of aiding the Muslim Resistance movement and disguising North African Jews. Younes befriends an Algerian singer, Salim Halai at the Mosque. Upon learning Salim is Jewish, Younes transforms from an apolitical immigrant into a full fledged freedom fighter.

Then on Saturday we’ve got a real treat for you. Our 3rd Annual Elvis Birthday Matinee.  Today, (January 8th) is The King’s actual birthday but we’re waiting to celebrate. Come on down Saturday, January 11th at 1pm for “Blue Hawaii” featuring a special live performance by local impersonator “Elviseena.” You won’t want to miss this.
