The Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust held their annual meeting this past Wednesday in the library’s 2nd Floor Reference Room (aka Memorial Hall—synechoche with the whole building). The better part of the meeting was devoted to a recently restored document in LP&CT’s Spalding House collection called the Bunker Hill Honor Roll which lists the militia men from this area who participated in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Two rangers from Bunker Hill Monument park, and some Revolutionary War Reinactors (pictured) brought to life the stories of the men listed for the crowd of nearly fifty attendees. Reproductions of the document were presented to local sponsoring institutions including the Pollard Memorial Library Board of Trustees. Our copy of the roll has already found a home, it hangs on the wall near our microfiche reading area outside Memorial Hall. Look for it next time you’re in the library.
